Mindfulness Classes

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness involves learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance.  Rather than worry about what has happened or might happen, it trains us to respond skillfully to whatever is happening right now, be that good for bad.

Recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence, mindfulness is a rigorously-researched treatment for anxiety and depression.  Mindfulness can also increase attention and emotional control.  Participants frequently report an experience of greater solidity of their sense of self, improvement in communications and relationships with other people, and enhancement of their overall sense of health and vitality.

Mindfulness classes are increasingly being implemented in business to improve staff well-being, in sports training to improve performance, and with children in schools to enhance well-being and learning.

Our mindfulness classes are taught by counselor Amy L. Young, M.S. Ed., NCC, NYCAPP.  They provide a supportive environment where participants can learn to:

Recognize signs of stress

Learn relaxation techniques

Discover how thoughts can help or hinder stress management

Cope more effectively with stressful situations

Develop new responses to sleep disturbances and fatigue

Communicate effectively

Build self-confidence

Tap into greater energy, well-being, enthusiasm and appreciation of life

We offer classes for adults, teens, children and families
